35 weeks pregnant and so confused! plz. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Well 1st I was thinking is it to early to pack my hospital bag? Im due the 25th of next month. What do I pack in my bag for myself and baby? Should I also pack a diaper bag? Lastly, it will be late spring then, what should I pack for my baby should I pack him a onesie and a pair of light pants, just let him wear a layette, or pack a short romper set? This is my 1st and im so overwhelmed and confused! Thanks in advance~
I've had 2, and baking #3. I way over packed for the first one.
I would bring a diaper bag, but only put clothes and wipes in it. The hospital will send you home with the unused diapers from your stay, more than likely the unused formula from the case they give you (if you have to or plan to bottle feed). As for clothing, keep in mind the baby has been in your warm body for so long, they will need to be kept warm as their bodies can not regulate temperature on its own yet. They will probably send you home with a hat, but you should have one in case you don't like theirs. Make sure its a strechy kind. My boys could not wear the new hats they were bought cuz they were the thicker cotton and did not stretch very much. I would bring a few footie jammies with long sleeves and hand covers, and a blanket. Bring the cutsie outfit you want him/her to wear during the first picture, and a burp cloth or two. If you're going straight home from the hospital, you really won't need much else.
As for what you will need, I would bring one comfortable night gown or long shirt to wear after birth in recovery. The hospital gowns are not that bad though considering you'll be bleeding, leaking, and in general uncomfortable. I preferred the hospital gown myself. I brought loose sweats and a sweatshirt to wear home though. I gave birth in late winter early spring though, so it was cold here. This summer it will be 100+ degrees and I am sure i'll bring a dress and granny panties. DON'T forget the underwear. You're gonna need some supportive ones to hold the big pads you'll be wearing!! You will need the basic toiletries to shower and stuff stuff (and your hub can too if he stays). Chapstick was very useful for me. The hospital will provide and send you home with pads, but you may be more comfortable with a few store bought overnights with wings. A few nursing pads to go home with if you like, but they are not really necessary in the hospital... at least they were not for me. Oh and a comfy pair of thick socks or booties or cslippers to walk around in.
If you like your pillows, I would bring one from home for recovery. I used mine for birth too. They don't ever seem to have enough for you.
Best of luck to you!
Happy pushing
