There are several advantages of using the old school vinyl records instead of mp3s. Although it may seem like there would be no advantages of going vinyl please keep reading and see for yourself.
#1 Cheap
Vinyl records can be gotten for almost nothing these days. For example if you walk into your traditional thrift store you will find hundreds if not thousands of old records all for around $0.50 - $1.00. Not a bad deal at all. Furthermore if you talk to the store manager there is a good chance that you could get a sweet deal such as 100 records for $25. Now you figure that each record has roughly 8 songs on them, and you get the low low amount of like 4 cents a song. Compare that to the $0.99 you will pay on iTunes and you might be beginning to see that there are advantages of going vinyl. Keep in mind that you can very often find records for even less then mentioned above, and of course this will lower the price per song even further.
#2 Cool Factor
The known "Cool Factor" of going vinyl should not be overlooked. Retro style and music have been popular for years now and it is about time that you jumped on the band wagon. Although you may not be able to install a record player in your car, you can certainly get one for your house or apartment. If you really want to play up the style aspect then purchase a large antique record player that would have been used a buffet/player. Those are probably the coolest record players are sure to score you some points with your friends. Buy a copy of "Dark Side of the Moon" and laze around while listening to classic rock the way it was meant to sound.
#3 Original Copy and Artwork
Unlike purchased copies of digital music, when you invest in vinyl records you will receive a hard copy of the music as well as exquisite original artwork. It is no secret that people have to re-buy music on their iTunes account after losing data from hard drive failure or some other common computer problem. There is nothing like holding the hard copy in your hand as your assurance that you music is not going anywhere just because your computer decides to flip out. Also since the size of the record is large compared to other forms of music storage your vinyl record comes with a similarly sized sleeve to store it in. On this sleeve you will find some of the coolest artwork from the time period of your record. These sleeves are perfect for framing and displaying in the same room you have placed your record player.
