Has anyone on here seen EC in concert.. if so.. did you like it, what were the best songs?
I've only seen him three times, all within the last eight years. The first time, he had a string section, of all things, with him and I wasn't impressed. (Not to mention, I had a date who was out of sorts because I wasn't paying attention to her!) Also, he did the acoustic version of Layla, which a lot of folks don't seem to care for.The second time, he was focused on blues and it was just incredible! Started off just him on an acoustic guitar and built from there. The third time, we arrived late and missed Robert Randolph, his opening act. (That time I was out of sorts!) However, in both the second and third instances he played a beautiful, electric Layla, along with Sunshine Of Your Love and also White Room at least once. (I believe that was during the first of the three. Notable because Jack Bruce sang the original Cream version.) Definitely played Badge & I Shot the Sherriff the last time. He tends to mix things up, depending on what album he is touring in support of. I've heard him do After Midnight and a beautiful Bell Bottom Blues. Undeniably a master guitarist. Personally, I'm not overly impressed with much of his more pop-oriented material but love it when he's in blues mode. He's definitely worth seeing though.
