When i as 12, 10 years ago, I stole a toy...from inside a cereal box. Now I'm thinking.....whose's watching those cameras? How did they not catch me open a box of Cheerios, reach in, take the buzz lightyear keychain out and put it in my pocket?

Most shops these days have cctv (security cam) right? Or decoys at least. Even though there is no security watching in real time? Is it mostly employees that catch shoplifters? Or do the cctv cameras catch a lot of people too. Because from what I've heard, it's always been the employees that catches someone and no one ever talks about the cameras. It makes me wonder if the cameras are reviewed at all! Ardene has like a dozen cameras in their shop and they can't all be fake, so why aren't shoplifters ever caught on these?
Of course, cameras back then were teeny tiny black and white screens...but I'm hazarding a guess that most security cams today are the same.
