1. Computer web designs - One of the best and modern sources of inspiration for poster designs today are computer web designs. If you look at those new web 2.0 websites out there, you will see a lot of great and awesome looking layouts, colors and graphics that should give you some ideas. A lot of fresh creativity is coming into the web environment. Most of these sites do in fact define certain trends on what people see as great looking and bad looking. So try to see if you can adopt a few web design concepts into your own color poster designs. It should make your color posters look quite modern and trendy.
2. Mobile Phone Themes - I hope you also noticed that a lot of creative things are going on in Mobile Phones. More particularly, if you look at those new mobile phones out there, you will see that they have lots of great looking extra themes that you can set. These are also great sources of inspiration for me. There are lots of new font styles, background effects and even blending ideas that you can take from these themes. Just look around and borrow the phones of your friends. You should find lots of great ideas.
3. Apple product themes - Now, there is no denying the fact that Apple products, from the iPod, iPhone, iTouch and of course the iPad are quite popular today. So why don't you look at these products, analyze them and see why they look so cool? I have found lots of inspirational design ideas in the look, feel and themes of most new Apple devices. From the actual design of the devices, to the themes, applications and other things inside them, you should find great concepts for fonts, colors, images etc. So fire up that new iPhone and see what might be applicable for your color posters.
4. Computer operating system themes - Another good source of modern design inspiration are computer operating system themes. From Windows Vista, Windows 7 and of course the newest version of MAC OS X, there are plenty of great layout and design ideas that you can get from these sources. They represent the newest trends on user interfaces that most of your poster readers will find attractive when they see in your designs. So look through the different themes of your latest computer operating systems, there should be plenty of great ideas out there.
5. Video game graphics - Lastly, video games are increasingly getting more beautiful. Their menus, their in game graphics as well as their concept art are all print worthy in most respects. So if you have a few of the newest games lying around (or maybe some of your kids have) why don't you play with them and see how the art design of the game works. Trust me, there are lots of new color schemes and layout ideas in games if you look and just focus on its art. Those game companies hire art directors you know, so these are quite professional inspirational sources you are looking at.
So as you can see, there are plenty of new modern sources of inspiration you can go to for poster printing today. So fire up your computer, phone or even your newest game console. There is plenty of inspiration to be gained from them.
