METALHEADS: Did you use to listen to pop music?

If yes, what was that one band that introduced you to heavier stuff?

For me, it was Evanescence.

While they're not my absolute favorite band now, they lead me to Within Temptation, then Nightwish and Epica (and other symphonic metal bands). From symphonic metal I moved to Thrash like Anthrax, old Metallica, Megadeth and Heavy like Iron Maiden. Then I went on exploring other subgenres of metal like Progressive and Power and Melodic Black. I listen to pretty much all subgenres of metal now. I also listen to Grunge (Nirvana and AiC).

I used to listen to Britney Spears, Gaga, Kesha, Christina Aguilera - basically all the top 40 hits. I'm glad my music tastes changed; now, I seriously can't stand pop now because they have turned annoying to my ears.

How about you?

Sort of ;) A long long time ago, I didn't listen to anything but classical music, like Mozart (still do sometimes). But from then on it was mostly classic rock stuff. I think the Cars greatest hits was really the first rock CD i ever owned...from then on it was Yes, Rush, CCR. And then I guess the Scorpions were the first metal thing I liked. So I looked around my dad's music collection and discovered Whitesnake, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Dio, Megadeth, etc, and I LOVED them :D
I found Nightwish by sheer accident but I immediately thought they were amazing! Because it was like a mix of metal and the classical I used to love. From there I moved on to Sonata Arctica, Elvenking, Within Temptation, Hammerfall... ;)

Ah, ok, I'll admit though...three years ago I was moderately fine with listening to Disney pop like the Jo Bros, Selena Gomez....I BLAME MY BROTHER. But now I can't stand the crap!
