Why do most Sex Pistols fans love Sid Vicious for?
I always preferred Johnny Rotten myself.
You're a true fan, just like me and few of 'em out there.
Malcolm McLaren wanted him in the band after Matlock was sacked because he's got the look and the attitude regardless of his musical skills that wasn't as great as the hype he had.
Also he asked Lemmy Kilmister to teach him how to play bass, "I can't play bass." Lemmy's reply was (according to himself) "I know."
Lemmy himself doubted the fact that Sid was the bassist on their only album. I read once in Wikipedia that Sid didn't play bass in the album at all but I think they've deleted it.
I also read about Johnny's constant anger about the huge fuss that Sid had but Wikipedia deleted it.
