hi i've recently made a poster using adobe photoshop cs3 that was printed professionally 4 ft by 10 ft. i designed it on a 4000 by 10,000 pixel canvas. however, the printed outcome was of bad quality. can anyone tell me how i can enhance the quality and make it right?
The reason your photo came out in bad quality is bacause you made it so big. 4 feet by 10 feet using a 4000 x 10 000 pixel canvas will produce 3 pixels per millimeter squared. this may sound like lots but the truth is, its not. If this is the problem it will come out grainy. To fix this, double the size of the canvas and be sure to adjust for it, or if at all possibe, do it again, but on a true size 8192 x 20480.
Another thing that may be causing it to lose quality are the compression type(JPEG,GIF,BMP,PNG,TIFF,RAW). The best type to use would be either RAW or BMP. RAW does not compress, but also isn't supported by many photo editing software packages. Bitmap is near lossless and looks pristine every time.
