What is the proper reaction to being shoved out of the way at a rock/punk concert?
I am a woman in my twenties, and not especially strong. Physically defending myself is not much of an option; if I tried to punch the person, I would probably be hit back, harder, and kicked out of the venue, anyway. Besides, this would most likely cause both the assailant and I to bump into those around us. (I am talking about very crowded situations.) Would it be better to smile and act like I LOVE being shoved ("Hey, it's part of the fun!"), or stand my ground firmly and refuse to be shoved? (This takes a lot of concentration and some physical strength, itself).
Talking to management about the patrons' behavior isn't much of an option. The situations are very crowded, and I really don't think management would be interested in a minor act of violence when so much of it is going on.
The only reaction is to shove back. You have to realize the shoving (especially of females) is usually not intentional. You are going to get shoved around at any punk or rock concert you go to. Stand your ground and people won't bother you. Trust me.
