You will also note that the man is doing everything he can to not respond in a sexually way. Her childish innocence combined with her obvious sexuality causes tension in men that are obviously stimulated but attempting to maintain their gentlemanly role.
Every once in a while the guy will begin to respond but will quickly be admonished by her. (after all, she doesn't know what she is doing, righ?) and the man will instantly feel guilty and retreat.
This dichotomy between the sexual body and the innocent mind between the male sexuality and the societal demands for restraint is what causes the tension and the excitement. It worked well in that era where traditional roles were clearly defined. I doubt it would work today.
