If you haven't noticed or don't care, rising fuel prices have caused the prices for food to increase as much as 30% within the last six months. Yes, fresh food requires transportation to your local food store within a reasonable amount of time after it's gathered, packaged, loaded and shipped for resale.
Dear Reader, some of those price increases are beyond belief, and I almost had a heart attack the other day in the supermarket. Without a doubt, the ever rising price for gasoline and natural gas is the major cause for why everything we need to stay healthy and alive is well on its way to putting all of us retired people into the poor house or homeless to die on the streets of our once great Nation of the United States of America.
That's called cost plus inflation, and it is stage two of the process that will no doubt become runaway inflation if the current batch of our do nothing Politicians for, "We People of the United States of America," refuse to take action against the greedy people who own and/or control those huge multinational oil companies.
If you remember, the last time, 1973, when oil prices rose higher than a kite in a very short time, the Politicians back then at least made an attempt to control such increases. They passed the "Windfall Profit Tax." Nixon also imposed limits on price and wage increases. Strange, after that, great pressure was put on him to resign. Watergate wasn't the only reason why Nixon left the White House.
Be that as it may, a recession resulted that also caused the worst kind of inflation, that being run away inflation. Yes, and it took nearly ten years in which to heal our economy. Will that happen again? Your guess is as good as mine, but if positive steps aren't taken to return oil prices to the $40.00 per barrel level, well this time we will have a true depression. May God help each and everyone of us.
Then again, maybe we should take matters into our own hands? Yes, maybe we should demand a full investigation of possible corruption within our Government? Maybe we should demand that President Bush be impeached? Maybe we should demand that our troops in Iraq return home? Maybe we should demand a complete investigation of all of those huge multinational oil companies? Maybe we should demand that all illegal aliens be found and deported? Maybe we should demand that law enforcement put an end to violent street gangs and the importation and sale of illegal drugs?
Those, Dear Reader, are the real serious problems we face within our Country. Each and everyone of them contribute to ever increasing inflation, on both a Local and a National level.
In our Democratic Society there is only one group of people who solve those most serious problems. Yes, our elected Politicians can do it. So, we need Politicians who will work for the majority, not the above named current batch of do nothings who make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Who will you vote for in 2008?
