We all have our favourite film star, sports star or musician that we idolise. As a way of feeling closer to a particular celebrity a lot of people collect signed memorabilia. Firstly you will need to determine what materials you would like to send away to get autographed. You should consider magazine covers or photo pages within magazines as these are attractive pieces to be signed and will look good in a collection. If you have been lucky enough to come into contact with the star and have a photo of them then this is a good way of adding a personal touch to your request and will hold great sentimental value for you. The photo does not need to be taken by you; any sort of photo will do and is worth considering sending off. If you do decide to send a photo or a magazine cover it is a good idea to place your item between two pieces of cardboard to prevent it from bending and you may want to consider including more postage as the item will weigh more. If you are sending an index card or something else small or flat then you can just send a standard envelope with first-class post.
Next you need to find an address for your chosen celebrity. You can do this by looking through fan-mail sites and there are also a lot of websites that list addresses for celebrities of all fields from movies to television to politics and science. You can find these websites by a simple search engine search.
Next you need to compose your letter. You want to mention something about a significant point in their career just to prove that you are a genuine fan, but don't create a long list as this could bore the celebrity and endanger your chances of getting an autograph. Explain a little bit about yourself and why you are such a huge fan and how much of impact the celebrity has had on your life. Make sure your letter is sincere and genuine and you will be sure to receive an autograph in return.
Always ensure that you include a self-addressed stamped envelope as this will make it easier for the celebrity to send you an autograph.
Now all you have to do is wait! Sometimes it can take a while for a celebrity to get back to you, remember they are very busy people! But it will be well worth it once you receive your autograph in the post.
